Obtaining a driver's license in Georgia 2023

With the beginning of September, the process of passing the exam for obtaining a driver's license will become more complicated in Georgia. Questions related to the technical condition and operation of the car will be added to traditional tests and practical testing at a special site. These additional questions, about 30 pieces, will include practical knowledge such as checking the engine oil level, the location of the coolant level, how to check tire pressure, and others. The innovation applies to both car owners and drivers of passenger buses and trucks.

The main difficulties in passing the exam are associated with long queues for passing the practical part in the city, as well as the high cost of retaking without waiting in line (through paid priority) in the amount of 250 GEL. The route around the city takes about 30 minutes, and during this time there is a risk of making up to 12 mistakes. In addition, there are cases where unfortunate circumstances can lead to failing the exam.

Any adult citizen or foreigner can become the owner of an international driver's license in Georgia. The validity of such rights is 15 years.
